Litterbug Couple Found With Multiple Fake IDs, Counterfeit Checks, Loaded Weapon: Cops
A pair of out-of-towners were pulled over for littering, Costa Mesa cops say. Then, police find a loaded gun in the driver's underwear.

COSTA MESA, CA —Your local Costa Mesa police officers made a startling discovery Sunday when they pulled over a couple on littering charges, police say.
Two people inside a car with expired tags were seen tossing trash as they left a parking lot on Bristol Street, Costa Mesa spokeswoman Roxi Fyad said over social media.
The pair, to their credit, pulled over for police. Then, the driver gave police false identification, she said. A search of the two and the vehicle ensued.

Costa Mesa cops discovered multiple counterfeit IDs and counterfeit checks inside the car, according to Fyad.
The driver was placed under arrest at that point. During the follow-up search, officers discovered he was hiding a loaded gun in his underwear.

Officers learned the driver, Meshack Samuels, 25, of New York was a convicted felon from New York for attempted murder on a police officer.
His passenger, Jolene Marie Griffiths, 20, of Baltimore was found holding over $10k in cash, Fyad said.
Both Samuels and Griffiths were placed under arrest on fraud charges, and the man received an additional booking charge of a felon in possession of a firearm.
