Felon Sentenced For Child Abuse After Baby Ingests 'Foreign Substance'

The Costa Mesa man pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced to two years in prison, court records show.

COSTA MESA, CA — The 31-year-old father of a 10-month-old baby who ingested a foreign substance in Costa Mesa that required hospitalization in June pleaded guilty Monday and was immediately sentenced to two years in prison, court records show.

Jovany Armando Encisosolorio pleaded guilty to a felony count of child abuse and endangerment and admitted a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury on a child younger than 5.

It was not clear what the baby ingested, but she was taken to an area hospital, authorities said in June when Encisosolorio was charged.

Encisosolorio pleaded guilty to robbery in January 2010 and was sentenced to two years in prison.

He also pleaded guilty to carrying a dirk or dagger in February 2013 and was sentenced to 16 months in prison and pleaded guilty to leading police on a chase in February 2015 and was sentenced to two years in prison, according to court records.
