Fire Damages Three-Story Apartment Complex in Newport Beach

Firefighters quickly tackled a blaze that damaged a large apartment complex.

Newport Beach, CA - A fire broke out in a unit of a large three-story apartment complex in Newport Beach tonight, but no one was injured.

A report was called in just after 8 p.m. of smoke visible from an apartment in the 1700 block of Sherington Place, according to the Metro Cities Fire Authority, which handles dispatching for the Newport Beach Fire Department and other area agencies.

The fire was brought under control at 8:29 p.m., but crews remained on scene mopping up, a dispatcher said.
