Flood Watch, 40 MPH Winds In Newport Beach Through Tuesday

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach residents, be aware: the National Weather Service issued a Flood and Wind Watch Advisory across the county through Tuesday night as rain, thunderstorms and high winds hit the region.

The predicted rainfall prompted National Weather Service officials to issue a flood watch throughout Orange County from late Monday night through Tuesday evening.

Newport Beach residents can expect a slight chance of thunderstorms on Monday night, with locally heavy rainfall possible. The conditions will last through Tuesday, with thunderstorms and rain predicted to last until the evening.

"A strong Pacific storm will bring an extended period of moderate to heavy rainfall," NWS officials said. "Excessive rainfall rates are likely over the San Bernardino County mountains where flooding and debris flows are most likely late tonight."

The conditions were expected to clear by Wednesday morning, NWS said.

NWS officials also issued a High Wind Advisory Monday, which will be in effect until 4 p.m. Tuesday. Newport Beach residents can expect winds ranging from 25 to 40 miles per hour to begin Monday night and continue into Tuesday, the National Weather Service said.
