Four Hospitalized after OD'ing on Unknown Substance in Newport Beach
Four people in Newport Beach overdosed on an unknown substance at a nightclub early Friday. Here's what we know.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Four people who overdosed on an unknown substance were found unconscious early Friday in a Newport Beach night club, authorities said.
"On Friday, November 18 at 1:05 a.m., the Newport Beach Fire Department responded to a business in the 2400 block of Newport Boulevard in reference to a medical aid call," Newport Beach Police Department Public information officer Jennifer Manzella said. "Upon their arrival, Fire Department staff discovered four adult males in medical distress."
At that point, the fire department paramedics operated under Multi-Casualty Incident protocols and requested assistance from the Newport Beach Police Department, Manzella said.

Battalion Chief Jeff Boyles spoke from the scene that some of the patients were in respiratory arrest and given oxygen.
"They took something to suppress their respiratory drive," Boyles said. All four were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

"Police Department staff responded to the scene to assist and to initiate an investigation into the incident," she said. "The cause and nature of their medical conditions are currently under investigation. We are still working to confirm the identities of the patients."
The Newport Beach Police Department is requesting the assistance of anyone who can provide information about the activities surrounding this incident.
