Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, if you're getting a jumpstart to your weekend, then you're stoked! Yep, we're seeing another day of really rippable waves.
The conditions are pretty clean early on, with a decent mix of some residual northwest groundswell and a fair amount of south-southwest energy in the water.
That recipe is making for some fast and semi-peaky lines, with some nice shoulders to pick off. Most of Newport Beach is seeing knee to chest-high waves, with the focal points pulling a few shoulder-high sets.

At 10:15 a.m the tide climbs up to a 5.3 high which is still going to have some places a little slow and soft mid to late morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.1 low at 5:15 p.m.
If you're going to get wet, break out at least a 3/2 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with the water temp averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!
