Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's backing down a bit, but there's still plenty playful size surf out there.
Unfortunately, there's a light south wind early on which is putting some texture or even light bump on it at many spots. We've got a combination of mostly fading west-northwest swell and some new small south-southwesterly energy starting to fill-in.
That recipe is making for some racy and kinda crumbly sectiony lines, with plenty of rippable corners. Most Newport Beach spots are running about waist- to chest-high, with the focal points pulling a few plus sets.

At 8:49 this morning the tide pushes up to a 5.8 high which is going to have many spots starting off a bit slow throughout the morning. The tide then drains out to a negative 0.7 low at 3:11 this afternoon.
If you're going to get wet, throw on at least the 3/2 fullsuit and maybe the booties, with the water temperature averaging between 56 and 58 degrees. See ya in the water!!
