Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, it's definitely not cranking, but it's not super small. Overall, we're looking at another day of playful size waves!
We've got nice and clean conditions from the start, with a combination of some new slowly increasing and steep angled northwest swell and some smaller south southwest energy in the mix.
That recipe is providing plenty of workable lefts and rights, with a few good steep shoulders. Most spots in Newport Beach are running about knee- to chest-high, with the standout breaks pulling a few larger sets.

Taking a look at those tides...at 8:57 this morning it pushes up to a 4.6 high which will have many spots pretty full and inconsistent mid-morning. Your best bet...once that tide drops a bit, but before it completely drains out to a 0.4 low at 3:01 this afternoon.
If you're planning on paddling, well that water temperature has climbed up a couple of degrees, so throw on no more than a 3/2 fullsuit, with it averaging between 58 and 59 degrees. See ya in the water!
