Friday Surf Report

Surf picks up a bit, but the coastal eddy returns.

Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report.  Well, we're seeing an increase in the energy, but unfortunately we're also seeing the return of the coastal eddy!  That means the conditions are starting off pretty crummy!

Most spots are seeing some texture or modest bump on the water early on.  There's mainly a fair amount of northwest windswell and not much south southeast energy in the water.

That recipe is offering some crumbly and bit disorganized sectiony lines, with a few fun corners.  Most Newport Beach spots are seeing knee- to chest-high waves, with the focal points pulling a few larger sets.

At 8:07 this morning the tide climbs up to a 3.9 high which will have some spots starting off a little inconistent early to mid-morning.  The tide then drops to a 1.0 low at 1:48 this afternoon.

If you're going to get wet, well that water temperature has cooled off a bit again, so you just might want to wear that 4/3 fullsuit and possibly the booties, with it averaging between 57 and 58 degrees.  Good luck out there!
