Waking up with the waves on Friday, I'm Surf Junkie Jeff with your Newport Beach Patch surf report. Well, the good amount of energy is sticking around for another day, but once again we're dealing with some crummy conditions!
We're starting off with some texture, bump or even light chop on the water due to the southeasterly winds. Look for the possibility of that wind to back off at some point later on, but don't hold your breath!
As far as the surf goes, we have mainly continued modest southerly swell in the water and barely any northwest energy out there. That recipe is offering some fast drained out semi-wally lines, with some pick and choose corners. More tide will definitely help out the shape!

Most Newport Beach spots are running about waist to shoulder high plus, with the top south facing breaks pulling head high waves, with some overhead sets. Taking a look at the tides: At 5:24 this morning the tide drained out to a negative 1.3 low which will have some spots desperate for water and pretty inconsistent early to mid-morning. The tide then pushes back up to a 4.0 high at 11:58 later this morning and then drops once again to a 2.1 low at 4:41 this afternoon.
If you're going to grab a session, throw on no more than a thin fullsuit with the water temperature climbing up a bit and averaging between 62 and 64 degrees. Have fun out there!!
