Get Documents Shredded And More At Newport Beach Earth Day Event
Newport Beach residents can dispose of sensitive documents, e-waste and more at the city's Earth Day celebration.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach residents looking to get a bit of spring cleaning done this Earth Day can join in on a celebration hosted by the City of Newport Beach and CR&R.
The event will offer free document shredding, e-waste disposal and a compost giveaway.
Residents interested in taking advantage of the offer can bring up to 10 standard file boxes of documents for shredding. Attending residents can also receive up to five 30-pound bags of compost while supplies last, the city said.

The city's shredder can accommodate most material, including bank and financial statements, credit card statements or pre-approved credit card offers, old IRS tax forms, checks or bills, old credit cards and plastic/paper membership cards, junk mail and documents bound with staples or paperclips.
X-rays or larger plastic items such as binders will not be accepted, the city said.

In regard to e-waste, residents are permitted to bring items such as computers, computer monitors, keyboards, televisions, flat panels, other monitors, printers, DVD players, cell phones and other small electronic devices.
Medical waste, batteries and other household hazardous waste will not be accepted.
Residents must bring a form of identification proving that they live within the City of Newport Beach to the event.
The Earth Day event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 22 at the Newport Beach Corporation Yard, 592 Superior Avenue.
