Hazmat Investigation Shuts Down Stretch Of Newport Boulevard

Authorities were investigating a possible hazardous materials incident at a building on Newport Boulevard Friday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Hazardous materials response team is in Newport Beach investigating the scene of a medical emergency, and at least one lane of Newport Boulevard is closed because of the ongoing incident.

It began Friday afternoon with a report of a possible overdose in the 2200 block of Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa. Both police and fire crews are on the scene, and one northbound lane of Newport Boulevard has been closed.
