High Risk Of Flooding: Prepare For Sunday Storm In Newport Beach
Days after rain drenched the region, an even more powerful storm is predicted to slam into SoCal starting Sunday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Weather experts and local authorities are sounding the alarm ahead of the most powerful atmospheric river to hit the Southland. The impending storm comes just days after another storm doused the region, increasing the odds of mudslides and flooding across the state.
In Newport Beach, residents — especially those in low-lying areas already impacted by flooding — were urged to prepare by protecting their homes and businesses with sandbags and avoiding travel unless necessary.
The winter storm will start Sunday, weather officials said. According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will bring a high chance of heavy rains and strong winds lasting through the day, with a chance of thunderstorms overnight.
