Inspectors Close Two Newport Beach Restaurants for Lack of Hot Water

Health inspectors shut down two Newport Beach restaurants last month for not having hot water.

Health inspectors with Orange County Health Care Agency shut down the Sliding Door Café and Bakery on March 20.

“The running hot water throughout the faculty measured 89-94F,” wrote an inspector in a report available online. Water needs to be at least 120 degrees, according to the report.

The restaurant was later allowed to be re-opened that day.

Another inspector visited the Tommy Bahama Island Grille, at 854 Avocado Ave., on March 11.

“Hot water was not available throughout the facility,” the inspector wrote in a report available online. The restaurant was in the middle of changing out the water heater.

Tommy Bahama’s was immediately shut down and later allowed to reopen that day.
