Irvine Solar Company Joins in Massive Project to Install 1,664 Solar Panels on 34 Apartment Buildings

Irvine-based solar solutions provider ecoSolargy (www.ecoSolargy.com) joined with Los Angeles solar company ReGreen to install 1,664 ecoSolargy PV panels on 34 apartment buildings in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and the Bay-area communities of San Mateo, San Jose and San Pablo.  It was one of the largest projects of its kind in California in the past decade; it took six months to complete.

The buildings are owned by Culver City-based real estate company Goldrich & Kest; the total annual energy offset is 6,840,777 kilowatt-hours, or a 70% reduction in the firm’s usage.

“We’re excited to be involved in a project of this magnitude,” remarked Alan H. Lee, ecoSolargy’s CEO and founder.  “Firms such as Goldrich & Kest are discovering that they’re saving big on their electricity costs, and are happy to be making a contribution to having a cleaner environment in California.”

About 84% of the total cost of installation will be recovered in the first year, due to generous federal tax incentives, depreciation and utility rebates.  The total cost of the installation will be recovered within three years, and the electricity generated afterward will be virtually free, as solar panels require little maintenance.

Lee stressed that between the low cost of borrowing money and the 30% federal solar Investment Tax Credit offered to companies that convert to solar by December 31, 2016, “there has never been a better time for companies to go solar.”
