Life Of Man Celebrated After Thanksgiving Day Shooting In Costa Mesa
The shooting, which left four other people wounded, was apparently the result of a minor traffic incident, Costa Mesa police said.
COSTA MESA, CA — The South Orange County community came together to grieve and honor the life of a 30-year-old man Monday, after he suffered a fatal gunshot wound on Thanksgiving Day in Costa Mesa.
The suspect in the shooting, identified as Santa Ana resident Lee Walker, surrendered to officers early Friday morning. He is currently in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Authorities said the Thursday violence was a result of a minor traffic crash.

The victim was identified as Costa Mesa resident Lucas Rivera Velasco. According to Costa Mesa police, officers were sent to the 400 block of West Bay Street about 6:45 p.m. Thursday and found five people with gunshot wounds.
Rivera-Velasco was one of two victims rushed to a trauma center. He died from his injuries there, and the other shooting victim was listed in stable condition.

On Monday, Rivera-Velasco's family, friends and community visited a makeshift memorial near Bay and Parsons Street, the Daily Pilot reported. Bouquets of flowers and 38 candles were left at the memorial in his memory, the report said.
To help supplement funeral expenses, Rivera-Velsaco's family has set up a GoFundMe with a goal of $10,000 to be raised in time for the service. As of Tuesday, the family had raised a little less than half of their goal.
