Major Injuries In Single Car Collision: Newport Beach
A 2003 Suburban struck a median and lost control overnight, the man inside suffered critical injuries in the crash.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — An early morning single car crash sent the driver to the hospital with critical injuries, the Newport Beach Police Department said. On Tuesday, at 1:15 a.m., the Newport Beach Police Department’s Dispatch Center was notified of a traffic collision near the intersection of Irvine Avenue and Indian Springs Lane,' NBPD Lt. Tom Frischbacher said.
The driver was inside a gray 2003 Chevrolet Suburban travelling northbound on Irvine Avenue when he lost control and hit the raised center median, Frischbacher said. The man, whose age and name was withheld, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered critical injuries as a result of the collision.
Newport Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported him to a local trauma center for medical attention and evaluation.

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are a contributing factor in this incident. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.
