Man, 25, Accused Of Attacking Woman With Vehicle In Newport Beach

The San Bernardino County man was charged with multiple felonies, including child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and evading arrest.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A San Bernardino County man was charged Thursday with multiple felonies, including child abuse, assault with a deadly weapon and leading police on a chase in Newport Beach, court records show.

David Raymond Duane Jr., 21, of Fontana, stands accused of separately attacking a woman with a vehicle and two men, the complaint said. According to the complaint, the crimes happened on Tuesday, June 26.

Heather Rangel, Newport Beach Police Department spokeswoman, confirmed that the suspect was arrested at around 10:23 a.m. Tuesday but did not provide further details "due to the nature of the crimes."

Duane was charged with evading a peace officer-reckless driving, child abuse and endangerment, assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism, all felonies, as well as two misdemeanor counts of battery, according to court records.
