Body Found In Newport Beach Home; Murder Suspect Arrested

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Chino Hills man was arrested and charged with murder after a man was found dead in his Newport Beach home, authorities said Tuesday.

Police were called to the home in the 1200 block of Park Newport to respond to a welfare check. Upon arriving, officers found the body of an adult man who had signs of trauma.

Investigators traced the scene back to Brandon Christian Chanman, a 35-year-old resident of Chino Hills, according to the Newport Beach Police Department. He was arrested Monday and booked at Orange County Jail on suspicion of murder.

According to the Newport Beach Police Department, an investigation revealed that both Chanman and the victim were acquaintances.
