Man On Scooter Critically Injured In Traffic Crash, Newport Beach Police Seek Leads

The man was "significantly injured" by the crash and is currently receiving treatment at an area hospital, police say.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A man was critically injured after a car crashed into the scooter he was riding on Sunday, April 16 in Newport Beach.

Newport Beach Police officers were dispatched at around 3:54 p.m. to the area of Newport Boulevard and 32nd St. and found the man injured at the scene, authorities said in a news release.

The man on the scooter, who was not identified by police, received "significant injuries" and was taken to a local hospital where he was receiving treatment as of Wednesday.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle involved in the crash remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, authorities said.

Residents with information were urged to contact the Newport Beach Police Department as the department's Major Accident Investigation Team conducts an investigation into the crash.
