Man Sentenced to Three Years for Pimping While Armed in Costa Mesa

A pimp was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday for felony pimping while armed with a firearm, according to the OC DA's Office.

COSTA MESA, CA — A pimp was sentenced to three years in state prison on felony cunt of pimping while being armed with a firearm. Raymello Edward Brown, a 22-year-old Stockton man, pleaded guilty to the offense.

"Brown is a pimp who exploits women for financial gain," Roxi Fyad, spokesperson for the Orange County District Attorney's office said in release. "The victims are often required to turn over all payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp."

Brown reportedly brought a woman known only as "Jane Doe" from Stockton to Costa Mesa for the purpose of prostitution in Orange County. He posted many sexually explicit ads of the woman on websites known for soliciting commercial sex, according to Fyad.

Members of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force organized an undercover operation to meet with "Jane Doe" at a hotel on Newport Boulevard in Costa Mesa on July 5, 2016.

"During the investigation, the defendant occupied a neighboring hotel room and attempted to call the victim," Fyad stated. "When the officers contacted Brown, he was in possession of over $3,000 cash, a loaded firearm and ammunition."

Brown was subsequently arrested by the OCHTTF. Deputy District Attorney Daniel Varone of the HEAT Unit prosecuted the case.
