Man Shot To Death In Costa Mesa, Suspect At Large Tuesday

A 38-year-old man was shot and killed in Costa Mesa Monday, leaving homicide detectives searching for a possible suspect.

COSTA MESA, CA — A 38-year-old man was shot and killed in Costa Mesa Monday, leaving homicide detectives searching for a possible suspect.

Costa Mesa police officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of the Sterling Avenue, near Pomona Avenue, at about 10:45 p.m. Monday in response to gunshots being heard.

Officers found the victim on a sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds, according to the CMPD.

Officers started life-saving efforts including CPR and the use of an AED machine, however, the victim died as a result of his injuries after being rushed to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana.

The man's name has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police said he was a Costa Mesa resident.
