FOUND: 11-year-old Costa Mesa Autistic Boy Reported Missing Found

An 11-year-old autistic boy reported missing in Costa Mesa yesterday was located at approximately 6 p.m. on Monday after extensive searching

Costa Mesa, CA— The 11-year-old autistic boy was reported missing from his Costa Mesa home yesterday was located according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

"Diego has been found," Costa Mesa PD stated through their Instagram feed. "Thanks to all who helped spread the word and locate him."

Searchers canvassed the area by foot and helicopter, according to the Costa Mesa police department. Though there was no official word where the boy was located, detectives remained with the child who was found nearly 12 hours after he was reported missing.

Diego Garcia's parents originally called police about 6:45 a.m. when they noticed he was missing from their apartment at 1200 block of Adams Ave.

The youngster's communications skills are "limited," but he answers by his first name, police said.

Diego has no history of running away. He is 4-foot-11, weighs about 110 pounds and has long, brown hair. He was wearing a green shirt, black shorts and red sandals when last seen.
