More Breast Augmentation Options for a Natural Shape Thanks to Newest FDA Approval

For a while, it seemed the FDA was limiting women’s breast implant options, restricting more implants than were being approved. The FDA pulled silicone breast implants from the U.S. market for almost 15 years because of concerns over leakage and ruptures. In 2006, silicone was approved by the FDA for use in breast augmentation, and since then the technology has only continued to improve, giving women ever more variety in safe, effective, and natural-appearing augmentation options. The fifth silicone breast implant option was recently approved by the FDA after its wide use in Europe for the past decade and trials in the U.S. with 955 women. Until this approval, MENTOR’s only available silicone gel implants were round. While round-shaped implants are a good choice for some women, they don’t suit everyone’s shape or enhancement goals.
