Motorcycle Crashes Into Tree, Killing 1 In Newport Beach
The crash was reported in the area of Jamboree Road and Sea Vista Drive in the City of Newport Beach, authorities said.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred in the city shortly before midnight Friday, Jan. 19, Newport Beach Police Department officials said in a statement this week.
Police were dispatched at 11:44 p.m. to the area of Jamboree Road and Sea Vista Drive in response to reports of a traffic crash.
Upon arriving, police found a single motorcyclist who had struck a tree in the center median. The motorist was pronounced dead at the scene and was not immediately identified by authorities.

The crash prompted officials to issue a SigAlert for the area, shutting down all northbound lanes on Jamboree Road from Sea Vista Drive to Island Lagoon until the following morning.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Anyone with information was asked to contact Traffic Investigator Hume at whume@nbpd.org.
