Mudslide Closes Newport Beach Roads Tuesday
A broken water main on a Newport Beach hillside caused road closures in the area. Dirt and debris covered the roads until noon, Tuesday.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A water main break flooded over 50 feet of Bayside Drive, east of Jamboree Road, with dirt and debris on Tuesday morning. Newport Beach police alerted residents of the road closure at just before 5 a.m. That section of Bayside Drive between Jamboree and El Paseo Street was expected to be closed until noon.
City workers were on scene within 15 minutes to stem the tide, said city spokeswoman Tara Finnigan.
Some residents in the Irvine Terrace neighborhood went without water while the pipe was fixed, Finnigan said.
