New Burger Joint Coming to Fashion Island

Expect to hear a new sizzle at Fashion Island this summer.

That's when a Five Guys Burgers and Fries restaurant is expected to open at the mall's food court.

Fashion Island is a "great fit" for Five Guys, said Kevin Nelson vice president of operations for franchisee Monument Restaurants.

"We're excited about the growth over there," he said. "They've re-energized that food court area."

According to reports, Five Guys will take over the spot now occupied by Fatburger.

While there is no date set in stone, Nelson said he expects Five Guys to open at Fashion Island in mid-July.
