Newport Beach Police Arrest Wells Fargo Bank Robbery Suspect

In custody is Christopher Bruce Mellies, 28, of Huntington Beach.

Newport Beach police have arrested a suspect in connection with last month’s Wells Fargo Bank robbery, officials said today.

Officers arrested Christopher Bruce Mellies, 28, of Huntington Beach, on Friday, according to a Newport Beach Police Department press release.

“Mellies was contacted near a relative’s home in the city of Huntington Beach and was arrested without incident,” the release says. “Detectives are also investigating Mellies’ involvement in other related bank robberies in the area.”

The Wells Fargo Bank at 3600 East Coast Highway was robbed just after 11:30 a.m. on July 20.
