Newport Beach Burglary Suspects Arrested After Pursuit
Two suspects are thought to have participated in a series of burglaries in Laguna Hills, San Juan Capistrano & Rancho Santa Margarita: COPS.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Two suspects in a series of South Orange County burglaries were caught in the act of committing another one in Newport Beach, authorities said late Tuesday. Both were arrested following a short car and foot pursuit over the weekend.
The suspects, who remain unidentified pending further investigation, are thought to have burglarized several homes throughout south Orange County. Homes have also been burgled in Laguna Hills, San Juan Capistrano and Rancho Santa Margarita, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department. The two suspects may have also committed crimes in Ventura County, according to reports.
The sheriff's Directed Enforcement Team located the suspects Saturday during a burglary in the 1600 block of Antigua Way, sheriff's officials said.

The suspects attempted to flee by car but crashed into a deputy's patrol vehicle during a short pursuit.
The two abandoned their car and ran into a Newport Beach neighborhood where they were ultimately arrested, officials said.

Many of the stolen items were recovered inside the car, according to the sheriff's department. Stolen jewelry and other items valued at more than $250,000 were found, matching descriptions of stolen property, officials believe.
Both suspects were booked into the Orange County Jail on suspicion of burglary, grand theft, assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest and conspiracy, sheriff's officials said.
Their names were not released due to the ongoing investigation.
