Newport Beach Community Celebrates Pat Maurer's 100th Birthday: Report

The wife of a former Newport Beach Mayor celebrated her 100th birthday with friends and family last weekend.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — The wife of a former Newport Beach Mayor celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by family and friends Saturday, the Daily Pilot reported.

Newport Beach resident Pat Maurer's birthday falls on Thursday, April 6, and her loved ones celebrated the milestone occasion with a surprise party for the former mayor's wife.

Maurer, who was born in 1923, was celebrated at the Red O restaurant for a lunchtime feast, and was honored by guests for her service in the U.S. Navy during World War II as well as her life in Newport Beach on Balboa Island with her husband, the late Philip Maurer.

"It was beautiful, just beautiful," Maurer told the Daily Pilot. "It was a lovely surprise, which is the best way to do it."
