NEWPORT BEACH, CA — More than 2.7 million Californians live in parts of the State deemed very high risk for wildfires. One of those areas is Newport Coast. On Thursday, emergency responders will conduct a drill to prepare for the danger of wildfire in our region.

Though the Newport Coast has not experienced a large wildfire in many years, according to a Newport Beach Police Department spokesperson, there is no time like the present to stay prepared.

If you hear sirens or see a large number of emergency responders in the Newport Coast area on Thursday, here's what they're doing.
