Newport Beach Lifeguards Rescue 6, Help Beached Boat Back to Sea [WATCH]

Newport Beach Lifeguards were called to aid 6 passengers and crew of a listing 43-foot Beneteau off Blackies Beach on Saturday evening.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — On Saturday evening, a strange sight greeted beach goers who were there to view the setting sun. A 43-foot Beneteau ran aground at Blackies Beach, requiring assistance to reach open water once more. Six passengers and crew members were stranded on board, requiring assistance.

"After Newport Beach lifeguards rescued six passengers and crew members, rescue boats surf watch and sea watch were used to remove the boat from the surf line, successfully."

A crowd of onlookers applauded once the boat was rescued.

The Newport Beach Lifeguards were on hand to make sure they had passage back to sea, but needed to use unique tactics in order to assist the stranded vessel. The two rescue boats managed to right the boat and pull it safely away from shore, as seen in the stunning video below.

According to Twitter, the Newport Beach Lifeguard Boats attached lines to the boat, and dragged the vessel off of the sand. No injuries were reported, but according to those present, it made quite a show.

The Newport Beach Lifeguards protect up to 10 million beach visitors on Newport Beach’s 6.2 miles of ocean and 2.5 miles of bay beaches, with preventative actions and medical assistance, according to their website.

"Every day of the year, lifeguards ensure safety and provide customer service to the visitors on the beach, boardwalk, piers, and in the ocean," they stated. "The Marine Operations Division provides the City of Newport Beach with the highest level of lifeguarding services and is recognized as an Advanced Agency by the United States Lifesaving Association."
