Yesterday was a devastating day for Dallas PD and the law enforcement community, the impact of which resonates through all of those who represent and wear the badge.

The circumstances that has made this incident so unusual was the volume of those who were harmed and the fact that individual(s) sought out our brethren, specifically because of their race and the uniform they wore. Clearly these actions were perpetrated to terrorize a specific group of people, law enforcement.

As a family, we must ensure those who that are left behind are safeguarded and that those who perpetrate these acts are brought to justice. We must watch over each other and maintain the same level of dedication and commitment to serve that our Dallas brethren made and upheld.

During times like these, we need to remember that there is evil and darkness in the world and that because of our values we hold the thin line that separates the community from chaos and anarchy.

You are the men and women who stand at the gate protecting freedom. This is not by far an easy task, but it is what separates us from others and what made this the profession the Dallas Officers chose.

I urge you to keep the Dallas Officers in your thoughts and certainly in your prayers. As you go out there continue to be careful, take care of each other and hold the line.

With a heavy heart,
Vlad Anderson
President,
NBPA
