Newport Beach Student Fatally Shot At Arizona House Party: Report

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A Newport Beach student attending the University of Arizona was fatally shot at an off-campus house party this weekend, The Orange County Register reported.

20-year-old Erin Jones was found shot outside the house at about 1:40 a.m. Sunday, the report said. She was quickly moved by authorities to a nearby hospital, where she died of her wounds.

University of Arizona President Robert Robbins said in a written statement that Jones was a sophomore from Newport Beach.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to Erin’s family in California and across the country, her friends, and her classmates in Tucson and Newport Beach, who are absorbing the heartbreaking news today,” Robbins said in a statement Sunday.
