Newport Beach's Junior Lifeguards Get Kudos From Local Cops

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — During the summer months, Newport Beach kids can chill with confidence, according to these pictures shared by the Newport Beach police department.

Local officials were out in force over the weekend, but they weren't just looking for trouble-makers. They were ready and willing to share the 7-Eleven Operation Chill free Slurpee certificates with people who make the city a better place.

At the Balboa to Newport Pier landing, a local volunteer officer was ready and waiting to hand out the little certificate of thanks to the kids.

All part of the Junior Lifeguards, the kids got a break for being "well behaved," according to the department.
