NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Summer is almost over for Newport-Mesa Unified public school students. The first day of school in the Newport-Mesa Unified School District is Thursday, Aug. 22.

Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change. Here is the list of dates to know for the 2024-25 year for schools including Newport Coast Elementary School, Corona del Mar Middle & High School, Newport Harbor High School and more.

  • Labor Day: Sept. 2
  • Rosh Hashanah (unassigned day): Oct. 3
  • Veterans Day: Nov. 11
  • Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 27-29
  • Winter Break: Dec. 23 -Jan. 3
  • Semester begins: Jan. 6
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: Jan. 20
  • Presidents Day: Feb. 17
  • Cesar Chavez Day (unassigned day): March 31
  • Spring Break: April 7-11
  • Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day (unassigned day): April 24
  • Memorial Day: May 26
