No Health Insurance? What will your Penalty in 2014 be?

If you don't have health coverage in 2014, you may have to pay a fee. You also have to pay for all of your health care.

The fee is sometimes called the "penalty," "fine," "individual responsibility payment," or "individual mandate."

The last day to purchase a Health Insurance plan in California is Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Mid-night, and amazingly Millions of American's have not signed up.

I.  If your Household income is under $19,650 the fee is $95. per person over 18 and under 18 the penalty is $47.50 in 2014.

II. Most folks living in the OC make more than $10,150 annually and in that case you will be charged 1% of your reported income.

2015 Penalty will increase to $325 per person under 19,650 and the percentage for those who make over 19,650 will increase to 2% (Keeps increasing each year)

You’ll pay the fee on your 2014 federal income tax return. Most people will file this return in 2015.

Exemptions from the fee:  If your income is under $10,150 annually you will not be penalized (ironically in California if you make under $16,750 you qualify for Free zero cost health insurance).
