OC Airport Ranked Best In North America

While traveling can be chaotic, one Southland airport was named North America's top large airport.

ORANGE COUNTY, CA — A Southern California airport was just named one of the best in North America in JD Power's 2024 North American Airport Satisfaction Survey.

According to the survey, Orange County's John Wayne Airport is the best large airport in the nation, thanks to its ease of use and terminal facilities.

The "large airport" category includes airports that see between 10 and 32.9 million passengers per year. John Wayne Airport beat out competitors such as Tampa International Airport, which ranked #2, Kansas City International Airport, which ranked #3, and Dallas Love Field, which ranked #4.

Other large California airports that performed well in the survey include:

  • #7. Sacramento International Airport
  • #10. San Jose International Airport
  • #19. Oakland International Airport
  • #21. San Diego International Airport

Other Southern California airports earned high placements in the mega and medium-sized categories, according to the survey.

In the "mega airport" category, for airports that receive 33+ million passengers per year, Los Angeles International Airport ranked #13.

For medium airports, which see between 4.5 to 9.9 million passengers per year, Ontario International Airport placed #4 and Hollywood Burbank Airport placed #13.

The survey ranked the airports based on customer satisfaction scores that factor in ease of travel, level of trust, terminal facilities, airport staff and more.
