OC Company Wants To Run Express Night Train From LA To SF: Report
The Newport Beach-based company Dreamstar Lines Inc. is aiming to have tickets for the service range from $300 to $1,000.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A small Newport Beach company is working on a privately-funded project to create a nightly first-class passenger train between San Francisco and Los Angeles, SFGate reported.
The train, which is not yet named, would leave at about 10 p.m. and arrive to its destination at 8:30 a.m., occupying the same route that Amtrak’s Coast Starlight uses during the day, according to the report. Passengers would sleep away the 470-mile venture in private rooms, the report said.
Dreamstar Lines Inc. told SFGate that it was in the process of lining up the railcars, financing, staffing and agreements needed to offer the first night train on the route in decades.
