NEWPORT BEACH, CA - A small plane crash-landed at John Wayne Airport on Saturday afternoon, authorities said. The Piper PA28-140 was carrying two passengers when it crashed onto runway 20R at 4:15 p.m., airport spokeswoman Deanne Thompson said. There were minor injuries, and no one was transported to the hospital, she said. There was a small fuel leak as a result which was contained and there was no fire, according to Thompson. The Orange County Fire Authority removed the aircraft from the runway with the help of a large crane. Runway 20R remained open and available for use, and the airport is functioning normally, with no impact to scheduled flights, Thomoson said. OCFA file Photo
