Plane Crash-Lands at John Wayne Airport
Orange County Fire Authority removed the crashed Piper from the runway at JWA, on one of the busiest travel weekends of the year.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA - A small plane crash-landed at John Wayne Airport on Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
The Piper PA28-140 was carrying two passengers when it crashed onto runway 20R at 4:15 p.m., airport spokeswoman Deanne Thompson said.
There were minor injuries, and no one was transported to the hospital, she said.

There was a small fuel leak as a result which was contained and there was no fire, according to Thompson. The Orange County Fire Authority removed the aircraft from the runway with the help of a large crane.
Runway 20R remained open and available for use, and the airport is functioning normally, with no impact to scheduled flights, Thomoson said.
