Poisoned Sea Lion Spotted On Shores Of Newport Beach
A sick female sea lion was reported in China Cove Beach in Newport Beach this week.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A sick female sea lion was reported on the shores of China Cove Beach in Newport Beach, authorities said Tuesday.
According to the Newport Beach Animal Control, officers responded to a call about a sick female sea lion at China Cove Beach this week.
Upon arrival, officers contacted the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach to assist with the female sea lion's rescue. After assessment, the sea lion is believed to be suffering from neurological issues triggered by Domoic Acid Toxicosis, a toxin produced during algae blooms.

Officers said the sea lion is a candidate for rehabilitation and is now on the road to recovery.
