Power Outage Affects 3,000 In Newport Beach After Electrical Fire
A vault fire sparked a power outage in Newport Beach. Additional power outages possible for residents of Balboa Island and Corona Del Mar.
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach Police and Fire departments responded to an underground electrical vault fire Thursday morning. The fire, which occurred at approximately 9:15 a.m. in the area of Corporate Plaza Drive, caused a power outage that has affected 3,600 homes and businesses, officials say.
"Newport Center Drive north of the E. Coast Highway to the Newport Center Drive circle has been shut down until the incident is controlled," police advised.
Traffic Conditions
Traffic signals in the area of Newport Center Drive and Civic Center Drive and Corporate Plaza Drive and Civic Center Drive are not functioning due to the power outage.

Additional Power Outages
Residents on Balboa Island and parts of Corona Del Mar are also facing power outages, according to an SoCal Edison spokesperson.
