Power Pole Fire, Downed Lines On Balboa Peninsula

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — A power pole fire with live wires was reported Tuesday, Aug. 15 at just before noon.

"Newport Beach fire and police are currently working a power pole fire in teh area of West Balboa Boulevard and 46th Street in Newport Beach," the Newport Beach Police Department reported.

Both directions of Balboa will be closed, from River Avenue to 44th Street due to hazardous conditions of power lines down in the area.

"Motorists are advised to use alternate routes until further notice," the Newport Beach Police Department spokesperson said.

There was no word as to what sparked the live wire fire as of this report.
