Rare Deer Spotted In OC Backyard Suffering Injury: Report
The mule deer was most likely struck by a car after it was found in a Costa Mesa backyard over the weekend, The Orange County Register said.
COSTA MESA, CA — A rare animal was spotted in an Orange County neighborhood over the weekend, after a mule deer — most likely hit by a car — was found in a Costa Mesa backyard, The Orange County Register reported.
The male buck with a six-point antler set was discovered by residents near East 16th Street and Santa Ana Avenue after they found it lying injured in their backyard, according to the report.
The residents of the home "watched it get up and walk, but it looked like a part of the leg had a bone coming out," Debbie McGuire of the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center told the newspaper.
