Bravo Reality Show Doctor, Girlfriend: Charged In 7 Date Rapes

A Newport Beach reality show orthopedic surgeon and his girlfriend were charged in attacks on seven women allegedly on cell phone video.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Bravo reality show Orthopedic surgeon Grant Robicheaux, 38, and his co-defendant Cerissa Riley, 31, were formally charged with drugging and then sexually assaulting five additional women in Newport Beach, according to court records, a total of seven. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail on the additional charges was set at $1 million, and both defendants were ordered to surrender their passports.

Both Robicheaux and Riley were charged with: rape by use of drugs, oral copulation by a controlled substance, assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense and possession of a substance for sale, and Robicheaux had the additional charges of two counts of possession of an assault weapon, records show. In the new charges, Riley was additionally charged with three assaults, and both were additionally charged with kidnapping to commit rape.

They have been free on $100,000 bail since the September 12 arrests in connection with assaults on two women.

In September, the District Attorney's Office received over 50 phone calls and developed 12 credible leads, OCDA Tony Racauckas said. He also stated that investigators were looking into crimes both recent and as many as two decades ago.

Prosecutors said that Robicheaux and Riley "took advantage of their good looks" and met women in restaurants and bars, then drugged them and took them back to Robicheaux's apartment where the women were then sexually assaulted.

Attorneys for Robicheaux and Riley vehemently denied the allegations and criticized Rackauckas and prosecutors for suddenly portraying their clients as dangerous sexual predators in September -- despite the alleged assaults being reported to police two years ago and the case presented to the District Attorney's Office in October of last year.

Robicheaux appeared in the 2014 episode of the Bravo dating series "Online Dating Rituals of the American Male," one of them entitled "Three's A Crowd."

Their next hearing was scheduled for January 18, 2019. Both face over 60 years to life in state prison, if convicted.
