A wildfire broke out Monday morning at about 7 a.m. in the area of Santiago Canyon Road and Silverado Canyon Road.
A wildfire broke out Monday morning at about 7 a.m. in the area of Santiago Canyon Road and Silverado Canyon Road. This area is east of the city of Tustin and north of the city of Lake Forest.
At this time, there is no danger to the Newport Beach area.

Strong Santa Ana wind conditions are fueling the fire and pushing heavy smoke and ash toward Newport Beach. It is recommended to stay indoors due to the poor air quality.
The fire's location is within the Orange County Fire Authority’s jurisdiction; however, mutual aid is being deployed including two battalion chiefs and three fire engines from the Newport Beach Fire Department.

The two fire stations on the eastern side of the city – Newport Coast and Corona del Mar – remain fully staffed.
