Shots Fired In Balboa Peninsula, Police Seek Info Monday

The shooting was reported in the 100 block of McFadden Place in Newport Beach, authorities said.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA — Newport Beach Police officers sought the public's help Monday in an ongoing shooting investigation that ended with the arrest of one man on the Balboa Peninsula.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of McFadden Place to respond to reports of an assault with a firearm at around 10:32 p.m. on Friday, May 19. After arriving, officers found a victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

According to investigators, two men were having an argument when one took out a gun and shot the other. The victim, who was not identified by authorities, was taken to a nearby hospital and has since been treated and released.

A Costa Mesa man was also arrested as a result of the shooting, police said. He was identified as 30-year-old Austin Knott and faces several charges, including Attempted Murder, Felon in Possession of Ammunition and Unlawful Possession of a Dirk or Dagger.
