Single Vehicle Accident Leaves Newport Beach Driver in Critical Condition

An accident on Newport Coast Drive in Newport Beach Saturday, involving a silver Honda Civic vs. tree, left the driver in critical condition

Newport Beach, CA--A single vehicle traffic collision on Saturday left a 19-year-old driver in critical condition.

According to reports, a silver Honda Civic, traveling southbound on Newport Coast Drive at just before 6:30 p.m., when the vehicle left the roadway, rolled over, then collided with a tree.

The driver of the vehicle, who was alone at the time of the accident, was partially ejected from the car.

"The Newport Beach Police Department’s Dispatch Center was notified of a single-vehicle traffic collision on Newport Coast Drive, south of Pelican Hills Road North," Newport Beach Police Department public information officer Jennifer Manzella said.

Newport Beach Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and transported the driver to Mission Hospital for medical attention and evaluation.

The young man, a Newport Beach resident, was listed in critical condition but is expected to survive his injuries.

The exact circumstances of the collision are under investigation at this time.
