HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA — A 47-year-old man was killed when he drowned while surfing near Sunset Beach, the coroner's office said Saturday. The surfer was identified as Eric Reno of Sunset Beach, the coroner's office reported.Reno encountered trouble in the water a little after 1 p.m. Friday at Sunset Beach, near 19th Street. Paramedics rushed him to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, where he was pronounced dead at 1:48 p.m. Friday. A watch commander with the Huntington Beach Police Department could not be reached for immediate comment.By City News / Image via Patch
