An 18-year-old Newport Beach native was arrested on suspicion of stealing money, jewelry, and other items from homes over an extended time.

NEWPORT BEACH, CA —Newport Beach police arrested an 18-year-old resident after a lengthy investigation into burglarized, empty homes in some of Newport Beach's wealthiest addresses.

On Dec. 1, Newport Beach Police found the suspect, Aquinas Arrigo Kasbar, in possession of both stolen property and burglary tools, they said. He was arrested on numerous charges of burglary, possession of stolen property, identity theft and resisting arrest, the Newport Beach Police Department Detective Division said.

Detectives served multiple search warrants at areas across town, following Kasbar's arrest. At one storage unit they discovered "a large amount of suspected stolen property valued in the hundreds of thousands of dollars," they said.
